The last few weeks have been such a delight to see the bunch of Diwali Ads of TV. No, I am not talking about the happy families sharing gifts, the oh-so-good husband giving jewellery to his wife or the kids getting a larger TV for their room.
This Diwali there seems to be a consensus, at least in the minds of the planners, creative teams and the brand managers. Let’s make this Diwali not about consumption but about sharing.
The true joy of Diwali is probably not just about gifting yourself the new iPhone 7, its about getting a new set of clothes for your house help’s kids.
If God has given you the opportunity and ability to share some joy, do your bit. Trust me its a blissful experience and you shall have a HAPPIER DIWALI.
Some of the ads are wonderful messages. They are heart touching and I am glad to have received the opportunity to do my bit for those around me.
I do hope you all too will make this a HAPPY DIWALI not just for yourself but for someone else too.
Have you seen that VISA ad where this man is seen dancing in various locations across the world? It’s to promote their foreign exchange card.
Can’t see video, click here to watch the VISA tvc.
Now, the real story. The man you see in there is not just any model they picked and travelled across the world with a camera crew. He is Matt Harding, a 32 year-old-deadbeat living in Seattle. It seems a couple of his home videos attained fame online and those have gone on to inspire more such commercial projects, VISA being one of the most visible. A good example of social media being the seed for a TV commercial rather than the other way round. Shall we see more of these in the coming times?
Matt has a rather interesting and truly luck by chance path to attain the semi-fame he has earned in the last few years. [Read more about Matt at his website: Where the hell is Matt?] And the VISA tvc now makes it even more prominent. But surprisingly the website has no mention of the VISA commercial.
And yes, while you are at youtube – don’t miss watching the spoof “What’s Matt’s girlfriend doing while he is away dancing across the globeâ€.
Happened to see these two tvcs in the past few days and I thought they had a strong similarity. Sports was the theme and the fact that they both try and talk about the fusion of music from non-conventional instruments.
See if for yourself – Sony Ericsson W350i and Samsung F480. Let me know what do you think.
A few months back mudra produced a corporate TVC for India’s largest insurance company – LIC (Life Insurance Corporation of India). I was a key member of the team which worked on conceptualizing and finally producing this 60 second spot. But unfortunately I could not be a part of the shoot which happened over 10 days in Rishikesh and Kolkatta.
The ad was featured in today’s edition of Business Standard – The Strategist.

I would like to know what you think of the ad, so please share your thoughts in the comments area.
This is a real fundo ad for Motorola’s new music phone called Motorokr. It features their brand ambassador for India – Mr. Abhishek Bachchan. And if I am not mistaken the ad also features well-known ad film-maker Prasoon Pandey. (Notice the director who tells AB to get some rest). Anyways, you enjoy the ad.
