After much fanfare the iOS 7 was released this week and it took some effort to download it thanks to slow speeds on my MTNL connection. The update is a whopping 750MB.
Been a few hours since I started using it and here is my first hand take on it:
Its a massive upgrade for sure – the user experience is gone up a notch. More slick I say.
First look. The lock screen does full justice to your lovely wallpapers.
The Control Centre is useful. Switching on/off Wifi made easier. I really wish they had put in Location Setting instead of Bluetooth. I tend to switch that very often to save battery.
The Photos section display is a lot more powerful now. You can browse via timeline or even locations. A separate section for Videos is so much easier to jump straight to your video collection.
The App store now lets you find popular apps Nearby. This should be very interesting to check when attending events or visiting new places. I did a random to check to see what were people using around my home and this is what showed up.
I think besides the few design & security issues, this has been good design change for the iOS since they launched the first iPhone 3. With more and more apps adapting the new UI, the experience will only get better.
