Round-up for the year 2008 – I pick the best

Yet another year comes to an end but not without leaving some moments which will make us look back and remember this year for something special.

  1. Top of the list if there is something to remind us of 2008 it will be the gruesome Mumbai terror attacks which kept the city on high alert for more than 50 hours. Social media played an important source of information for people all over the world. UTVi does a little report where I get quoted on their special news capsule. (Video is at the bottom left-side).
  2. My Canon Rebel XTi has been put to some good use and I took up some self-assigned photo shoots to practice my photography skills – Ganesh Visarjan (a few lessons learnt there), Bandra-Worli Sealink, Water droplets, Mumbai Marathon 2008 (I look forward to yet another eventful morning in 2009), DPS Assignment: Purple.
  3. Travel plans included a family holiday aboard the Super Star Virgo Cruise, attended the Advertising Festival – Goafest 2008, flew to the new Bengaluru and Hyderabad International Airports. Nitika and me also celebrated our wedding anniversary with a little holiday in Goa.
  4. Of the Monday Mumble – I think these two ideas attracted some attention – Mumbai Traffic Channel on twitter and Restaurant on the bus.
  5. The year also got me super social – writing to Farhan Akhtar and the super cool artist even replied back. My letter to editor in Mid-Day about the objectionable Bajaj Pulsar TV ad also got published.

Predictions call 2009 a tough year and everyone’s got to put in a lot more effort to survive the global meltdown on one hand and the growing terrorist threats on the other end. But don’t let that dampen your spirits as you walk into the new year.

Wishing my family, friends and readers A Very Happy New Year.
