Moulded in Wax

March 9th, 2006 · Posted in: Entertainment · Workplace·

Last week I attended one of our client’s corporate party. The setting was beautiful – an open-to-air location at Out of the Blue in Bandra. Because the party was arranged to congratulate the team for a good job done, they put in some interesting activities like a tarot card reader, caricature artist, bangle maker, a magician who performed tricks for every guest. However I think the most unique thingie about the party was the Wax Hands Station.

I really don’t know how to explain the process - but basically you get a mould of your hand made in wax. It’s hollow inside so can’t really use it as a candle, which I thought on the first look it was. It was fun. They put your hand in ice-cold water and then immediately put it in the warm melted wax. And after a few seconds in there, they cool it by dipping into the cold water again. Gives you a very funny sensation in the hand and the outcome is worth a look. Couples in the party even got models where their hands were held together. Very romantic to have it on your desk, I would say. But alas, I went to the party alone so could not get one done for myself.

I think if you are having a party where you would like something like this, let me know and I’ll put you in touch with the organizer.
