My pick from the Cannes 2007 films

July 19th, 2007 · No Comments

A real good soul in office downloaded (almost) all the winning entries at Cannes 2007. The Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival (IAF) is generally regarded as the most prestigious international advertising festival. Over the last few days I reviewed the films and some of them truly amazed me.
My favourites:

Power of wind - bringing life to [...]

In-film branding in 1984

July 19th, 2007 · 1 Comment

Last night I happened to catch a little bit of a movie called Dhokebaaz. This was a big star
movie with Shatrughan Sinha, Amjad Khan & Vidya Sinha but a few minutes of the movie was enough to predict the “predictble of typical hindi movies”.
Anyways, there was something interesting in the movie which made me write [...]

Women and financial investment decisions

July 11th, 2007 · No Comments

You may have seen the latest ICICI Prudential tvc which shows the wife persuading her husband to sign up for the life insurance policy giving her all reasons why he should get one. Yesterday we had a little (healthy) debate on this ad. Without getting into details I’ll just put across the big question which [...]

Ad pick: Lilliput kids wear

June 1st, 2007 · 4 Comments

Ok, I really didn’t appreciate this ad when I looked at it. The first thought which comes to my mind is the message it is giving out to children. I mean if the kid happens to see this ad will he/she get more persuasive to buy those clothes so that he/she can go to his/her [...]

TweetVolume: What’s being tweeted?

June 1st, 2007 · No Comments

The latest emailer from the guys at twitter has a very interesting link to TweetVolume. It lets you analyze how many times does a word or phrase appear in twitter. Who cares, right? Well, I thought so but then I give it a shot and tried something just to experiment with the application. So here [...]

New players in the airline war

May 11th, 2007 · No Comments

When I first read about the War of Words happening between the airlines, I thought the Go Air hoarding was a pure photoshop job. But then it seems agencyfaqs proved it was there on the spot, although I didn’t get a chance to check it myself.
Adding fun to the war I got this forward in [...]

Getting too geeky, are we?

April 12th, 2007 · No Comments

Last week I noticed two interesting posts at Adverblog. One common communication directed towards probably a new set of consumers: technosexuals. I think till sometime back only those into hardcore programming or gaming were called “computer geeks”. And typically computer and other related stuff was being marketed at them but now I guess lifestyle and [...]

Ad Pick: Motorokr starring Abhishek Bachchan

April 6th, 2007 · No Comments

This is a real fundo ad for Motorola’s new music phone called Motorokr. It features their brand ambassador for India - Mr. Abhishek Bachchan. And if I am not mistaken the ad also features well-known ad film-maker Prasoon Pandey. (Notice the director who tells AB to get some rest). Anyways, you enjoy the ad.

Update on Goafest

April 6th, 2007 · No Comments

The latest on Goafest 2007 is that we might be not going. It seems the organisers AAAI are having difficulty putting in all the over-subscribed 800 under-30 seats.
Of course the senior management is wrestling it out with AAAI, so let’s wait and watch.
Final update: I will NOT be attending Goafest, instead I will be spending [...]
