IPL ad on SET MAX – is it a copy?

Indian Premier League – the new cricket format to hit India has been the talk of the town lately. SET MAX, the official broadcaster for the matches released a nice tvc earlier last month. After a little chat with the creative lot in office, they all seem to appreciate the piece of work and think it was very well done.

Sadly, last night somebody from office sent us a youtube link which claims how shamefully the idea has been ripped from a 5 year old TV spot for Fox Baseball. Coincidence, inspiration or just pure copy? you decide.

  1. Yes, the Karmayudh ad seems to be ‘inspired’ by the Fox ad atleaset going by the execution. I had mentioned in my blog too. Nevertheless, the planning for the IPL communication is commendable. From the launch communciation to the next phase where they attempt to build loyalty (possible?) is quite interesting.

  2. How did you manage to get the baseball video? Shd show it to the guys who made the IPL video. With so much money coming in, the last they could have done is to come up with something original.

came on your blog through aalap’s. did you check some blogs on blogadda.com?
